Drugs Payment Scheme - If you are an Irish resident and don't have a GMS card, you should ensure your family is registered on the DPS. Under this scheme a family pays a maximum of €90* per month for approved medicines and appliances per calendar month. To apply ask a member of staff for an application form. (You will need your PPS number.) * subject to change by The Department of Health.

General Medical Card (GMS) - If you are an Irish resident over 70 years or a person on low income (means tested) you are eligible for free medicines under the GMS.

Tax Relief on Medicines - When you spend more than a set amount on certain medical expenses, you are able to claim tax relief. Most of the cost of your prescribed medication can be claimed against your tax. At the end of the tax year, Lynch's Pharmacy can provide you with a print out of all your dispensed prescriptions. Simply present this with your completed MED 1 form in your tax return. Glucometers for diabetics and gluten free food for coeliacs are also tax deductable.
